Have you heard the old saying-
“Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in the morning, sailor’s warning”
Here is a biblical comparison to this old saying.
Matthew 16:1-4 KJV
“The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.”
So is a “Red sky” always a bad sign?
We use the term “Red flags” more commonly when we see that something is going in the wrong direction.
Red tends to be the universal color of warning. So we tend to think of red not always in a good way but remember warnings can be life saving.
What else is red and will save your life eternally?
The blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!
Isaiah 1:18 KJV “come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Isn’t it interesting that when we take sin which is wicked but described as red right here in Isaiah and wash it with the blood of Jesus through water baptism the end result is a pure white soul. That is the power of Jesus working in us to cleanse us from our sins.
One day the sun will rise and set in your life for the last time.
No matter what color the sky is be it a red sky, bright orange, or pastel pink we all have a warning to heed before it is too late. The LORD will return and ours souls must be washed and ready.
HAVE FAITH-Jesus can command the waters and wind and they heed His voice.
Luke 8:22-26 KJV “Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him , saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was calm. And he said unto them, WHERE IS YOUR FAITH? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. And they arrived at the country of Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
God will guide your life over troubled waters.
